Description
20 cartridges of 45-70 Government.
300-grain round nose, flat point, lead with Hi-Tek coating. Aluminum gas check.
These bullets are designed for small to medium-sized buffalo. Great hunting round and fun for target shooting. They’ve been designed for a Trapdoor rifle, so that is the lowest pressure of the 45-70 Government rifles. As such, you can shoot these in any 45-70 Gov firearm (Trapdoor, Lever or Modern). While lower pressure, the lead bullets allow them to reach a speed of over 1,750 feet per second. With a 300-grain bullet, that results in quite a lot of energy: 2,039 ft/lbs.
Hi-Tek
If you are unfamiliar with Hi-Tek coating, you will want to be. The coating is a polymer that lubricates the bullets, so wax is not needed. Additionally, the coating protects you from direct contact with lead. The coating is allowed for shooting steel targets (having no copper jacket), reduces how much lead gets on your fingers, and protects the barrel from leading. More information can be found at Missouri Bullet Company.
Ballistics
The average velocity is 1,800 ft/sec with a standard deviation of 28 ft/sec.
Testing was done with both an 1873 Springfield trapdoor and a CVA Scout V2 rifle.
